Hi there, my name’s Calum. I’m an adult male from Scotland, and i’m quite opinionated. People often disagree with me, and people often agree with me.
I welcome discussion, and i believe in freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and freedom of movement, as well as open mindedness and flexibility.
I also believe in the maxim “be excellent to each other”.
I don’t believe that expressing a point of view is the same thing as repressing someone else’s point of view, though obviously some people’s voices can be louder than others’ (The front page of the Daily Record for example will be read by more people in Scotland than one lone blogger’s obscure web page).
I felt the need to start this blog in the wake of the Scottish Independence referendum in 2014. Many people in Scotland were awakened to the idea that they could be politically active and aware, during this campaign, and that they might have some input into the political process that defines the world that they live in. This blog is simply my way of saying what i think about issues that affect Scotland, and the wider world.
Also in the days following the result of the independence referendum, i joined the Scottish National Party, something i had never wanted to commit myself to before, but which i am now proud to be a part of. Nevertheless, all views expressed by me are my own and may not reflect the policy or views of the party.
